HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN !!!
22

We celebrated John-style early for his birthday since he is now at NU. We had home-made carrot cake and ice cream. And the boys played a 3-hour game of settlers of Catan (Rebecca opted out at about 1 .5 hours). Finally Dad won! Then John opened a few gifts, and Rebecca was reminded of "The Monkey Man" days when she gave John the gift bag she had chosen for him. (This goes back to when they used to do school together--you'll have to ask them about it.)

HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY
BIRTHDAY, JOHN!
WE ALL LOVE YOU DEARLY !!

FAMILY FUN

We are so blessed to have had several weeks to be together as a family! A major highlight was that most of our family was meeting little Sam Huntley for the first time! We celebrated Esther's graduation from High School with an open house at our house. Everyone pitched in to help A LOT! While David and Kelsea travelled over to spend time with the Colgroves in Wisconsin, the rest of us headed over to Wheaton, IL to bring Esther to College. David and Kelsea leave in the morning tomorrow, and soon John will be leaving for his final year at Northwestern University. It sure will be quiet here! And we will have to change our pace and get to work ourselves as our school year starts on Labor Day!
Thank you, Lord, for your many merciful blessings to us all!

Lemonade Sale!

We set a nice desk that we don't want anymore out at the curbside with "FREE" on it for anyone who could use it.

Yesterday, as I was saying goodbye to the two little neighborhood boys who are at our house just about every day
(Ryan and Michael)
, the littler one said, "If that is still here tomorrow, could we sell lemonade?"

I then realized that it was PERFECT for selling lemonade! I said maybe we could if it was still there. Well...it was still there, and of course that is exactly what Daniel, Timothy, Ryan and Michael did today! They pulled over the hose, mixed it up right there, and sent two boys in opposite directions a block down Birch Lake Avenue to call out , "Ice cold
lemonade for sale!" The lemonade wasn't cold for very long, as we had very little ice to use, and since I forgot to buy sugar, they ran out and could only sell for 1 1/2 hours. But in that time they made $20.20!! They beamed as they got to pocket $5. 05 each! (There were several soft-hearted people who gave just to the cause.)

I saw the following little story that you might enjoy reading:

Lemonade Stands

According to those who make calendars, summer is officially over on September 23rd. Sadly, the end of summer also means the end of most neighborhood lemonade stands.

I love lemonade stands.

In fact, my wife and children know that it is almost impossible for me to drive past a neighborhood lemonade stand. I’ll circle blocks, make illegal U-turns, and drive over rusty nails and shards of glass to get to a neighborhood stand. I’ll even call my wife and kids and ask them to get in their car and go get some lemonade.

It goes back, of course, to my grade school days when I proudly operated my very own lemonade stand in my front yard. I remember setting up the table by the street, making the signs, and wondering how much to charge for a wonderful ice-cold glass of lemonade; a nickel, a quarter? Is a glass of lemonade worth a quarter?

Of course, mom would help make the lemonade and would even supply a small box of change. Then, finally, after all the preparations were made, it was time to sit in the chair behind the table and wait for the line of cars to show up driven by thirsty people.

That’s usually where the entire operation broke down.

Long, lonely minutes would creep by as I sat there anxiously waiting for a car—any car—to pull down my street. And nothing would crush my spirit more than when a car would finally come into view only to rumble past without giving me or my lemonade a second thought. (There’s just something un-American about that.)

There is one summer day that stands out in my life as a lemonade salesman. It was a particularly hot day and ideal for selling lemonade. No one, however, seemed interested in my stand. Cars were driving by that day, but none stopped. My ice had melted. The lemonade was hot. The apple I had set on the table to give away as an incentive to my first customer was rotting. Yet, no one stopped. And I was fairly miserable.

I was just beginning to close up shop when off in the distance, I noticed a car coming my way. It was a familiar car. It was my Dad’s car, and Dad was in it. He pulled up to my stand and rolled down the window. “How’s business, young man?” he asked with a big smile. All I remember was bursting into tears.

The next thing I know, Dad is asking for a glass of lemonade and about the rotten apple on the table. “Are you selling that apple, too?” he asked still smiling. I guess I managed a “yes” through my sobs but informed him it was a little rotten. “My favorite kind,” I heard back.

I have a vivid memory of handing my Dad the warm glass of lemonade and then the rotten apple through the window of his car. He leaned back and drank the lemonade in one long swallow, smacked his lips and stared at that rotten apple…and took a big bite.

He reached into his wallet and pulled out a bill and handed it to the little boy trying to overcome his heavy sobs. He said a big “thanks” and drove away. He was around the corner and out of sight by the time I looked in my hand and saw the bill he had pushed in my hand. Twenty dollars!

Have you ever gone from despair to joy in under a second? Well, I certainly did that hot summer day. It left a powerful imprint on me that lasts to this very day.

It is easy to drive by lemonade stands. After all, we’re busy and have places to go and people to meet. But sometimes, if you stop and invest in a “small cup of warm lemonade and maybe even a rotten apple,” you may never know the impact it could leave on someone’s life. In fact, God could even use it to turn someone’s despair into joy.

5 Day Club

This week is our Backyard Bible Club which Esther and Joseph are teaching. Yesterday (Monday, our first day) two boys prayed to ask Jesus into their hearts--one from Daniel's baseball team and one from Timothy's baseball team! The older boy is almost 13 years old, the son of the coach, and has a very tender heart. His dad sat in on the whole club! And he plans to bring his 3 kids for the whole week! And then joy upon joys, two little boys (Ryan and Michael) from our neighborhood who have been friends with Daniel and Timothy this past year prayed to receive Christ!! They were SO eager, saying they WANT to go to heaven, and what should they do!! We have really loved these two boys and have been praying for their salvation.

Paul and I prayed this morning together that God would use even us, as we feel so failing and weak, to spread the Gospel, and not two hours later I had the opportunity before the club started to share the whole Gospel to these two boys. Then at the club, they prayed to receive Christ.

I thank God that He is willing to use His people, so failing, so weak, to work powerfully through us!!

I know you all have been praying, and this is an answer to your prayers and your financial support. ... Laying up treasure in heaven, where moth and rust do not corrupt, and where thieves do not break in and steal...Praise the Lord!

Fun on the Fourth!

We had a very fun day at the Gilmer's for the fourth of July. We didn't win any prizes this year, but I thought you would all enjoy seeing a photo of Dad last year when he won "The Smallest Fish Caught" reward.

Grandma and Grandpa visit Huntley grandboys!

We are visiting the Huntley's!! Yesterday (Saturday June 12) we arrived in Dallas to spend a week visiting Ruth, Adam, little John, and the NEW LITTLE ONE, Samuel Paul Huntley. Tonight we had Pat and Shanna Molitor come for supper with their three darling children Josie(almost 4), Max (2), and Peter (5months). They are very friendly children, and we had a great time catching up with Pat and Shanna. After Ruth went privately into her room to nurse little Samuel, all these children barged happily in to "visit" her and bombard her with questions.

Happy Birthday Paul!

We had a fun day celebrating Dad's Birthday. He is now 51 years old! Dad went with the boys for baseball practice tonight while I stayed home and made supper and did a little "Grandma Handiwork". When they got back, we all went on a walk at the nature center. It was a beautiful, quite warm evening. We saw several deer, and the boys raced us back to the car by a different route. (These pictures were taken with Dad's cell phone camera, so they are not great quality. But a lot better than nothing!)

After we got home and had supper, Joseph had a great idea for the candles! He used little tea candles in the shape of "51"!! And of course, there was 1 candle left after Dad blew them out, because as Timothy pointed out, "You don't have any other girlfriends"!

A Big "Thank You" to all you children away from home for calling and wishing Dad "Happy Birthday". It was special for him to hear from you all!

P.S. If any of you haven't heard...Timothy and Daniel almost certainly have the chicken pox! I was very excited to see them, and very surprised! It brought back many memories! And it has been SO many years since we had chickenpox in our family. (About 14) I will be checking the spots tomorrow to make a final diagnosis!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TIMOTHY !!!!!

On May 25, 2001 Timothy Paul Molitor was born in the early morning at St. Joseph's Hospital in St. Paul. MN!

The whole family was excited to visit him on that very first morning in the hospital.

Some of the other visitors we had that morning in the hospital:

Timothy was warmly welcomed into our home at 1797 Fulham St., Lauderdale, MN!

Here is Timothy at almost 3 weeks old:
Mom took these pictures at 2 and three months with Timothy in the same outfit, and I am sure it wasn't planned!
This picture was taken in early October when Ruth returned from her trip to Turkey immediately after 9-1-1. Timothy is 4 months old:
John age 13 and Timothy 4 months:

A FEW OF TIMOTHY'S FIRST'S:
His first pears:

His first steps (11 months):

His first antics with big brother Daniel!

His first haircut, which just happened to be on
His first Birthday!....We celebrated at Grandma and Grandpa's house in Perham, MN. See the big chocolate cake? Well, Timothy had never had sweets before this, so it was going to be interesting what he would do.
But he put his piece of cake to his mouth, and he chewed and chewed and chewed till it was gone, without even once stopping to put it down!! We all stood there amazed and laughing because he just ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!

A FEW MORE LAUDERDALE PICTURES:

All the boys when Timothy was 6 months old:

And this picture was taken at David's High School Graduation Open House at Lauderdale City Hall June 21, 2003, just 3 days after moving in to our White Bear Lake home! Timothy had just turned 2:

Good friends to celebrate good times with! And guess who might be coming over tonight?

And the following summer of 2005, Timothy age 4:

Timothy truly has always been a very good worker even back in the Lauderdale house! Here he is helping out with yardwork at the new house. I think all you older kids can remember how much work we did moving here!

And here is a picture of all the kids when Ruth came home from GIAL the winter of 2004-5. Timothy would be 3 and a half years old:

All the boys during our trip down to Pat and Shanna's wedding, 2005:

David and Timothy in December, 2005.
Timothy would be
4 and one half years old.

Timothy's new brother, Adam, came into the picture when Timothy was
6 and a half years old!!

The era of "THE 3 LITTLE BOYS" began in 2001, and lasted until approximately 2008 when Joseph grew about 2 feet, and we just couldn't call him little anymore! We still have 2 little boys, but that is likely to change in these next couple of years too!

Last, but not least, an all-time-favorite picture of our beloved !
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIMOTHY !!!
We all love you so very much!
