Sister's Get-Together

This past week has been a very enjoyable and memorable one for me.  My sister Karen flew in from Oregon last Tuesday, and she stayed in Minnesota till today!

On Monday we did the little preparing we needed for our trip to Perham, and then in the evening Karen went to Hugo, MN, with Timothy and me to watch Timothy's baseball game.   We stood in the continual drizzling rain, and had a great time!

The next morning she and I left for Perham.  This is the first time in 35 years!! that Karen and I have had extended one-on-one time.  And it truly was a blessed time.  We talked about so many things.  And besides some tears, we mostly laughed.  It was so great.

Over the course of the weekend I observed that Karen is a very positive and gracious person, and honest and real.  She really listens to others.

Me and my sisters, minus Amy (who is taking the picture).  I hope to add another
picture when I get more.  Can you believe that I forgot my own camera!!

We did a lot of fun things together.  And one of them was getting a ride from Angie Fudge on their new pontoon.  It was a perfect day for it.
Dylan and Mary Grace came with Angie. Those kids are so cute
and it was so fun to spend some time with them!

Amy was "cap"tivated by my hat, so she wanted
a picture of it.  All I wanted was to stay out of the
sun as much as possible.

Karen and I returned early Sunday, and after a little rest, I brought her down to the lake.  Then we went to Straitgate for the evening service with the family.

The next morning (Monday), Brother Gerard shows up at the front door, and we all went down to the lake for a VERY beautiful walk.

Here is Karen by the mysterious gateway that you could
imagine leading you to a wonderland.

Of course we talked about all the beautiful gardens
and houses along the way.  And then Gerard
insisted on taking us all out for lunch.  Dad called
while we were walking, so he got invited too!
And guess where we suggested??....
Yup!!  And they loved the root beer!

I am SOOO thankful that Karen chose to
come and to stay here.  Daniel and Timothy
didn't even know her before.  And now they
do! And they love her.  And she really loved
them also!

Garden 2012

Some of you specifically asked me to post some pictures of the garden so you could watch the progression of it this summer.  So...here are some photos at the garden's early stage, taken today, June 15, 2012.
Part of the first garden of the two in front.  Impatience
in the front, and zinnias in the back.

Second of the two.

At the front door.

And the little old friend at the back door!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAUL!!

Dad is 53 today!  We celebrated Saturday so that Esther would still be here.

Esther made a special pork chop
recipe with sweet potatoes AND yams (Dad's request).
And John bought some root beer at 4 Seasons.
I made sour cream raisin pie, one of Dad's favorites.

After a delicious supper, everyone (except me) played a game of Catan.  Thankfully it went rather quickly, and I think Timothy won!

Then we had dessert and presented a few gifts to Dad.

Tonight, Esther, Dad and I just returned from a beautiful midnight walk at the lake.  A full moon and perfect quietness and temperature.  A nice way to welcome in Dad's birthday!
