We had a wonderful Christmas week and were able to meet John's dear friend Agus!
During her various visits with family, she introduced us all to "mate"! Mate is a
traditional South American caffeine-rich drink. Agus likes her mate like I like my good coffee!
John and Agus (mostly Agus!) also made us a DELICIOUS meal of empenatas. We got to help roll the dough, and believe me, there is an art to it!

One beautiful sunny but cold day, the kids all went down to walk at White Bear Lake. They decided to make snow angels, and when Esther took off her wet glove...off came her engagement ring and flew into the newly fallen snow! Dad, the hero as usual, showed up on the scene after they had been searching at least an hour, with a metal detector rented from White Bear Rental. Within half an hour there was a loud beeping, and they found the ring!!

Before Agus returned home to
Argentina, she and John were able to visit some of her relatives in California. They also met up with our great friend, Christian!
It was SO nice to meet you, Agus, and to spend time with you! We all hope we see you again in not too long!

Great post, Mom! I had no idea Esther had lost her ring in the snow. So thankful she found it again. I love all the photos of Agus's visit. :)
